SOUND ACTIVATED INSTRUMENT

1996

The sculpture was turned on at 6:00 pm, March 23, 1996. A high-heal shoe was the first sound to activate the motor that caused it to make its own noise. The motor only runs long enough to complete one circle that just barely plucks the string. The motor is then reactivated repeating the cycle, monotonously. The battery that controls the sound activation electronics lasted 36 hours after which the sculpture was dismantled.
