Vacuum Ball

1995

Five wooden vacuum cleaners surround a deflated eight-foot ball of heavy curtains and drapes. Their hose's snake into the pile. CLICK! The power relays snap their circuits closed and the five vacuum cleaners begin inflating the ball. The noise is obnoxious.

The ball stretches taut after two minutes and CLACK! The relays open. The roar turns into a hum, the ball deflates, and the timer waits just long enough for the viewers to forget to pay attention, then kicks back on.

Size: Wooden vacuums are life size. The ball is eight feet in diameter.

Materials: Wood, metal, fabric, latex, and vacuum cleaner parts, electronics
